Adam Smith (AS) has been a reference in various topics at various times, and has put his theoretical, ideological and methodological perspective at the service of multiple orientations. The uses of Smith as a classic of political economy, that is, the convergence of the political that goes beyond the technical-instrumental on the one hand and the anecdotal on the other, presents two clear flanks in a simplified way, the one that leans more for towards rationality and mathematical formalization, economics, and that other the leans towards the reflection of the socio-political and cultural context. This second perspective is the one that www.olafinanciera.unam.mx in its 46th issue, continues to adopt to celebrate Smith in its 300 years of remaining in the public, academic and theoretical discussion.

The content of this second issue, like the first, makes the effort to approach the themes that are treated in depth or outlined in a suggestive way in the prolific and provocative texts of AS. Such as his opinions and reflections about women in work and society, or the industrializing effect on natural resources, not only from a perspective of the submission of nature, but also regarding social effects, such as the price of work, wages, or gentrification, a concept of English origin and thematized because of the industrial revolution. These themes and others as well as a variety of interpretations made by the collaborators of this, either to try to clarify the concepts addressed by AS, or to attempt to make a contemporary interpretation by taking as an axis some orientations of AS.

The effort of www.olafinanciera.unam.mx is aimed at leaving behind the simplified vision, adopted for ideological and political interests of the ruling classes, of the open thought of AS, although classist, but which manages to transcend its time, while evoking the flavor of the first steps of the discipline of political economy.
